Coastal Maine Reporting’s mission is to give the fisherman an alternative option
to submitting their landings. It is required by the State that most landings need to
be submitted online through an app or a computer. This is a struggle for a lot of
people, not just fishermen. It is hard to keep up with the changing world and the
electronic requirements that this world has deemed necessary. It is our intension
to take the anxiety and frustration out of the process.
Coastal Maine Reporting has extended hours for the Fisherman to contact Us. We
accept landings information through text, email or a good old-fashioned phone
call. We are available to answer any questions that you may have and if we don’t
have the answers to your questions, we will get them for you.

I have spent most of my life here in Maine, although I am not a Maine Native,
often living by the water; given my love for the ocean. I grew up in Western
Massachusetts, moved to Maine at the age of 13. After living out west and
overseas for a few years, I found myself back in Maine where I raised my son and
daughter and have lived here ever since. I went to Thornton Academy and then
earned my ABO Certification, working 25 years in the optical field, 5 years as a
medical administrative assistant, where providing customer service has always
been very important to me. I worked for the Department of Marine Resources
(DMR) for 5 ½ years in the Landings Department doing both dealer and harvester
data entry.

I grew up in Cohasset Massachusetts, a town located on the South Shore, 21 miles
south of Boston. I was fortunate to have the ocean as my backyard and enjoyed
everything that it had to offer. I loved to fish, swim and sail. As a young child I
spent much time digging clams, making drip castles, playing in tidal pools and
burying myself in the sand. As I grew older I enjoyed the peace and serenity that
the calm and rippling waters allowed my mind and thoughts. I was fortunate
enough to have an opportunity to intern with a local marine biologist who was
working on research pertaining to windowpane flounder. This allowed me days on
the water, floating in his skiff, riding on the tide. After the internship concluded, I
knew that the love of the sea was in my soul and I planned to pursue a life that
would never be without or far from the saltwater. The ocean is where I felt most
at home. In later years I studied plankton and any other subject, pertaining to the
ocean and all the science and mystery that it had to offer.
Later in life, I was fortunate enough to raise my two daughters on the water’s
edge, between Cohasset and Boothbay Harbor. When my girls found their way to
young adulthood and developed their own interests, I decided to apply for a job
at the Maine State Aquarium, located at The Department of Marine Resources on
the west side of town. After years at the aquarium, I applied for a job at the front
desk, which started my career at DMR.
In 2008 I started working, under contract, for The Landings Department. My
position was centered around contacting the harvesters for missing information.
As the years passed, I grew to love my job having been given the opportunity to
help make the state’s requirements easier, more manageable and less
intimidating. After being hired as a State Employee, I took on the title of The
Primary Harvester Contact, as time passed I loved the position more and more, as
I started to create friendships with many of the fishermen and their wives,
parents, siblings…..families.
It is an honor to be starting a business in which I will still be able to help the
people that fish the Maine waters. It is my hope and desire to make the
experience one of ease and comfort. My business partner Sue, and I, aim to be
the liaison between the fisherman and The Department of Marine Resources, to
ease any tension or frustration when it comes to the information that is necessary
to submit as required by The State.
